Reiki with Naglaa

If your body is feeling sore or hurting, beyond the traditional massage, “Reiki” is my recommendation.

I’ve gone to see Naglaa at the Davina Holistic Center in Pawtucket because some of my anxieties and stress from work and day-to-day was affecting my body.

I had lower back pain, my neck was stiff and hurting especially when driving or working on the computer at my desk.

Reiki is different from almost all other healing techniques.

It’s a Japanese healing practice based on the principal that the practictioner can channel energy by means of pressure points and the body’s chakra, to activate the natural healing processes a person’s body while also restoring physical and emotional well-being.

I felt leary trying Reiki at first, because it feels a little “hocus pocus.”

But it’s been integrated into many countriesand holistic medica practices, promoting relaxation, and improving fatigue. The work also helps relieve symptoms of depression. This, according to the Center for Spirituality & Healing at the University of Minnesota.

My first time walking into the Davina Holistic Center, I notice right away it’s welcoming.

The space in Pawtucket, Rhode Island feels tranquil, and quiet enough for me to discuss the help I need, both physical parts of my body that needs attention and mental and emotional stresses.

Naglaa is very intuitive and a great listener. She offers a sensitive type of counseling on a greater spiritual level, helping me let go of what was bothering me, releasing tension in my body. She’s passionate about this work, and it shows.

She’s done this practice for so long, she can pick up on things quicker than, oddly, the patient.

Once I was talking to her about where my aches were coming from and she intuitively asked if something was also bothering the left side of my hip.

To be honest, all my neck and back pain was so intense, I didn’t noticed my hip. But yes, that was hurting too.

She’s that thorough.

When Naglaa works on the pressure points on my body, it heals me physically and spiritually; after a session, I feel refreshed, lighter and more balanced.

Her words and the counseling reached me more than the everyday advice and support I get from friends — which is powerful too, a session with her is unrivaled and I’ve tried many different things.

I felt very comfortable for my entire 2-hour session inside her studio space — there wasn’t a moment where anything she said made me feel afraid. It’s all stuff getting reiki that will help me moving forward.

It’s hard to describe what happens exactly, but it’s like having someone who massages the knots and kinks out of your body through those ”pressure points.”

Naglaa says her work helps make people feel at peace, during and after the session. I’m in a completely relaxed state when she practices reiki, and I wake up when the session feeling like all the muck and the gunk in my body is removed.

I always leave feeling lighter.

She also began creating these amazing candles to help relax and soothe the body — another part of her healing practice.

I love the way they smell — she uses real, naturally-sourced ingredients, without any of the toxic ingredients you may get from artificial candles at a store.

Her candles are another technique to fascilitate healing through the senses. I’ve had the rose candle I bought burning a few nights on my night stand, and it’s helped me relax before falling asleep.

The smell is beautiful.

There’s a passion in her work for helping others — whether it’s physical, emotional or spiritual pain. The next day after our session, I’m driving and I realize my lower back and tailbone isn’t hurting anymore. Her healing touch.

It can seem overwhelming when releasing and purging stagnant energy and limiting beliefs your body and you have held on to your whole life.

But, she’s a kind soul who really finds her passion in healing.
