A Place for Brunch in St. Paul: Hope Breakfast Bar

This is one of my favorites for brunch in St. Paul.

I love Hope Breakfast Bar in St. Paul because the service is friendly, the savory food comes out quick, the prices are unbeatable, AND the restaurant often gives back to the community through various events, like food donations.

During Minnesota’s covid restrictions, the restaurant applied for a permit, and was able to close off a part of the street out front for outdoor patio dining.

Even as Minnesota opened up, the outdoor seating remains — making it convenient to find a reservation for an open spot.

We’ve gone to Hope Breakfast Bar before when they’ve even had live music outside; it was a guy playing on his guitar some classic favorites, and I loved the Sunday-Brunch-feel of the place.

It’s clearly a community.

A restaurant with a purpose:

Restaurant owner Brian Ingram spent years of cooking, running, creating the concept, and opening restaurants all over the world. He’s told me Las Vegas was one of those locations, where he was responsible for a restaurant inside one of the renowned hotels.

To understand the restaurant’s vision, Ingrahm writes this about his St. Paul restaurant, on Yelp:

Hope Breakfast Bar is here to start your day with optimism. From our historic space, to our fresh take on breakfast favorites, we are built on a community foundation of the past with a focus on making the future of our community a better place […] Bringing people together for the most important meal, no matter what time of day.

Here are some of their philanthropic work in the community — many of their efforts have supported families in Minnesota during some of the toughest times.

Their restaurant operated as a food pantry at times. Ingram and his team facilitated donations for hospitality workers; during the riots following George Floyd’s death, they helped provide for members of the National Guard.

They’ve also fundraised for victims’ families, who were tragically affected by violent crime.

The families of Aniya Allen, Trinity Ottoson-Smith, Ladavionne Garrett Jr have been supported by the team at Hope Breakfast Bar.

Pricing for the St. Paul brunch spot:

For two people — two lattes, an appetizer, and two brunch entrees, we spent $58.
